External Participation – Advantage Austria Health Ecosystem Visit

On December 12, 2024, Advantage Austria – AußenwirtschaftsCenter Laibach organized a half-day event with Slovenian health ecosystem stakeholders. The meeting gathered 24 participants (16 women and 8 men), including students from the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences enrolled in the program Health and Care Management. The study visit included stops at the Metelkova Health Centre, the Ministry of Health, and DIH HealthWise. Technology Park Ljubljana, within the framework of the I3HIES project, actively participated by presenting its mission, activities, and real-world digital health applications.

Event Summary

The final part of the study visit took place at DIH HealthWise, where supporting activities and opportunities were presented:

  • Advantage Austria: Deputy Director Bernd Andresson introduced support programs and management services fostering cross-border collaboration.

  • DIH HealthWise – ongoing opportunities: Rebeka Žerovnik, Head of DIH HealthWise, presented activities focused on accelerating digital health solutions, promoting technology adoption in healthcare education, and disseminating information about I3HIES open calls and the Digital Health Ljubljana event.

  • Interaction & discussion: Students engaged in a lively dialogue with the HealthWise team, asking about entrepreneurial skill development opportunities and the integration of digital technologies into medical curricula.

  • Austria-Slovenia cooperation: Presentations showcased bilateral efforts to foster innovation and support digital health ecosystems.

  • Student engagement: Strong interest in entrepreneurial learning opportunities and technology adoption in medicine.

Conclusion & Impact

The event demonstrated the importance of international cooperation in building digital health ecosystems. It also opened new perspectives for student exchange, joint innovation projects, and the integration of entrepreneurial training into healthcare education. Through the I3HIES project, Technology Park Ljubljana continues to connect academic communities, health institutions, and innovation hubs to foster long-term collaboration and digital transformation in healthcare.
