Investor Club Meeting #2 – Digital Health Ljubljana Show of Innovation

The second Investor Club meeting, organized by Technology Park Ljubljana (Slovenia) as part of the I3HIES project, took place on February 3, 2025 at the Center Rog in Ljubljana. The event gathered 150 participants (92 men and 58 women), including investors, corporate and academia representatives, as well as startups from Slovenia, Croatia, and the Czech Republic.

The event was held within the framework of the Digital Health Ljubljana – Show of Innovation, the central Slovenian platform for healthcare digitalization. Its focus was on presenting innovative health startups and scale-ups to investors, facilitating dialogue, and showcasing opportunities for investment in digital health. A dedicated I3HIES booth provided information about ongoing and future open calls, allowing participants to explore funding possibilities and eligibility criteria.

Event Summary

The program combined startup showcases, investor discussions, matchmaking, and networking.

  • Opening session: Rebeka Žerovnik and Monika Cvetkov highlighted the importance of the event and its strong connection to the I3HIES project. Twelve startups from Croatia, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia presented their solutions.

  • Panel “Investing in Health – why to do it and how to do it”: Experienced investors, including Peter Mogyorosi (Laser Consult Kft), Craig Cooper (Serpentine Ventures), Jakob Gajšek (Ljubljana University Incubator), and Boštjan Čeh (BioTech Hills / Labena Ventures), discussed investment opportunities and challenges in digital health. They emphasized that successful investments require understanding healthcare systems, regulatory frameworks, and the strength of founding teams.

  • Startup interviews: Founders presented their solutions directly on stage, highlighting market needs and innovation potential.

  • Matchmaking & speed dating: Startups held pre-arranged meetings with investors and strategic partners, including Business Angels Slovenia, PanAdria, SC Ventures, Serpentine Ventures, and pharmaceutical companies such as Medis, Krka, and AstraZeneca.

  • Networking session: Informal discussions facilitated new partnerships and expanded the innovation community.

Investor Club Meeting #2, held under the I3HIES project, successfully bridged startups, investors, and strategic partners in the health innovation ecosystem. It catalyzed future collaborations, deepened understanding of market and regulatory challenges, and strengthened digital health as a priority innovation area in Slovenia and the wider region. The event’s added value was also recognized by I3HIES community members such as Simfit2drive, Centrum Cognitio, Deva Group, and JA Sport.
